Dress Quest

The quest for the vintage Kate Moss Topshop dress is over. The dress is from the first 2007 collection and is a collectors item.
I was lucky enough to find it on eBay for a pretty reasonable price :)

Bridal Retro

I'm obsessed with this series of photographs of when Elvis
married Priscilla in 1967,  1. because I'm getting married next year and  2. its amazingly retro-just check out that bouffant, the veil, the eye-liner-its insane!

Birthday dressing

Another birthday present: I love this top! The defined collar is so retro, the print is really 60's and the soft grey/blue makes it really delicate and feminine.

Tea time

A sweet little tea dress I ordered last week from River Island (from ASOS). I needed to update my summer dresses because summer is now well and truly upon us and you realise you either don't like the stuff you bought last year or you don't have enough of it to avoid wearing the same dress every other day! It has little ties on the sleeves and ties in the back too for a retro feel. I'm definitely feeling floral tea dresses this summer.

Throwback Thursday

An American themed costume party where my boyfriend and I decided to concentrate on 1960's America and go as Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick. I've always wanted to dress up as this superstar!
As Edie I donned a grey wig (we actually bought the exact same wig), chandelier earrings, authentic 60s eye makeup, leopard coat, black dress and black tights. I very much embraced my grey wig!

Another one to add to the collection

A birthday present from a friend: this bag is so pretty and the detail is really cool, its a sort of dusky pink/beige with a cream crochet overlay-very festival chic and perfect for my upcoming holiday!

Wild shoes

These 'western style' shoes are from Topshop, a sale find with a good reduction that I originally eyed in  February. The leather detail is great, they're so comfortable and go with dresses and jeans. I knew I definitely wanted them after seeing Wild Belle in March where the lead singer was rocking a pair with a slightly higher heel- I think I was totally hypnotised by Natalie Bergman's style and individual beauty (future posts about her for sure!)

IT Dress

I first tried on this tea dress back in May in Topshop Oxford Circus(heaven!)and fell instantly in love with it. I thought I'd go back and get it later, but didn't have time and  reminded myself to buy it on-line. I checked on-line a few weeks later and found it had completely sold out at Topshop!  On ebay the dress was selling for a minimum of  £75! It had become an over-night it dress after various UK TV personalities had been photographed wearing it.
I recently went on ebay UK to try my luck and magically I found one  for £35, and now its mine!

Its great for summer and when its gets cooler I will wear it with tights and a leather jacket.

Tie and Dye

I’ve tie and dyed the ends of hair 3 times since last year and each time I like it more, and each time I've been a little braver with it! It’s easy, sometimes a bit nerve racking: you worry if the dye is evenly distributed etc, (avoid the useless brush that comes with!) but I just go with it and have never been disappointed. Worst case scenario- you dye it back to brown! I loved Melody from Melody’s Echo Chambers’ hair and after seeing her in concert in February I decided to try a tie and dye.

Here’s a few pics documenting the colour.

The Thaw

OK so I haven't blogged in forever. I got lazy. I'm not a lazy person, but when you spend 8 hours a day in front of a computer at work you get a little blasé about wanting to sit at the PC all night when you get home too. Winter came and went, but stayed for what seemed like forever(there was snow in April!) So that deterred me from blogging-I have to admit all I wanted to do was wrap up in warm clothes, sit on the sofa and drink hot drinks rather than sit near the (cold) window and blog! (I should probably buy a lap top one day). Anyway, after several recent purchases I realised its time to get blogging again!!

Queen Carine

I've always admired Carine Roitfeld: she's empowering, always dressed impeccably but a little bit undone (the woman can rock a smoky eye and tousled hair) and above all I loved her work as Editor at French Vogue (sorry Emmanuelle Alt, but its just not the same).  Roitfeld has been an obsession in the blogosphere for a long time and  street photographers go mad for her.

I discovered 'Irreverent' a few months ago and it was subsequently a Christmas present from my parents.  A beast of a book at 368 pages it comes in a hardback case and weighs a ton!

It's a privileged insight into Roitfeld's creative thought process-an exquisite collection of photographs documenting her 30 year career in fashion including editorials from her time at the helm of French Vogue interspersed with notes from designers and extracts from her personal albums-c'est très chic!

Outfit of the day

earlysunsetsovermonroeville:

Alexa Chung attends the 2012 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show at the Lexington Avenue Armory on November 7, 2012 in New York City.

Another hit from Alexa Chung. From the lippy to  the boots, its perfect. I love that she's at the Victoria's Secret show and is probably more covered up than any other woman there, yet still manages to look effortlessly cool and stylish. And don't even get me started on the bag candy!

Think Pink

I kind of want pale pink highlights. Not an overall colour but a few streaks of pale pink could be fun :)
Mary Kate Olsen was rocking it back in 2007 (way ahead of her time) but she rocks everything- from bag lady shabby chic (which I actually really liked!) to couture classics.

Fearne Cotton highlighted her hair pink last year pre 30th birthday, which I loved.

Hair Envy

Model Freja Beha Erichsen. Her hair always looks good even when its super messy.
Total hair crush, and style crush-she does 'off-duty' better than most.
