Ok, it’s raining a lot outside, meaning today’s post merits a fashion appropriate image. Get out your trench coats and boots à la Jane and Serge circa 1960’s, although this is a slightly sexier version of said clothes.   

The undeniably coquettish music they made together aside, in fashion terms they are quite special to me, (not solely because in our couple my boyfriend is the French one and myself the Brit) but they just oozed style, a carefree attitude and epitomised the 60’s.

I find it impossible not to drool over old pics of Jane Birkin from the 60s /70s.  Her style-her outfits were so simply put together, her hair, her gamine figure! Those images of Jane continue to inspire fashion, designers and street style.  When you manage to make a wicker basket look cool, you know you have ‘it’.  

Serge, with a gauloise cigarette perpetually hanging from his mouth coupled with his graduation from 1950’s ill fitting suits to 1960s dandy chic, beautifully complemented Jane’s British style.  Jane brought an element of Swinging Sixties London to Paris, where the French were already in love with Gainsbourg, and the world welcomed a new IT couple.
