“We are here because of the music. We are Band Aids"

There are just too many films to name that have impacted fashion. Usually a film dedicated to a specific era achieves it best, highlighting the best looks of that time. I would find it difficult to become obsessed with a film set in the 80s!

Almost Famous:

It's all good: the soundtrack, a multitude of 70s musical references, the characters in the fictional band Stillwater (yum) loosely based on a number of bands at the time (many people say Creedence, Led Zep), but in fashion terms its Kate Hudson who steals the film as Penny Lane-band aid/groupie partly based on legendary groupie Pamela Des Barres.

Penny's barely therefore lace camisoles, embroidered tops, the out of bed tousled hair, the flares, huge fluffy 70s style coats, aviator sunglasses, platform shoes-shes boho and rocks every look in the film. Almost Famous is the ultimate film to reference for 70s fashion.

After reading Pamela Des Barres' book, 'Im With The Band', the parallels between Pamela and the character of Penny are instantly obvious and its clear that Des Barres was a huge inspiration to the film.
