Male inspiration

For girls, I think just the right amount of  male rock star influence instantly equals edgy, feminine, tomboy chic.   Weirdly enough, most of those men rocked a very feminine style during the 60s and 70s.

I love Iggy and his metallic tight trousers (these are everywhere right now, Zara does a very authentic pair!)

Keith Richards with his tight shirts, skinny scarves, huge sunglasses, embellished belts, reams and reams of necklaces-the man definitely knew how to accessorise, better than most women.

Led Zeppelin is a great example, and a personal favourite. The velvet shirts, flowery jackets, the incredibly tight low slung jeans, this was all very girly, (coupled with the masses of blond curls) but worked so well on Robert Plant.

^ This had to be a woman's shirt!

A perfect example of the tomboy aesthetic is best portrayed by Alison Mosshart-always photographed in jeans, boots, leather jackets, lumberjack shirts. The woman has amazing personal style by dressing like a (beautiful) boy.
